AbstractThis paper shows the classification obtained with an integrated system based on artificial neural networks to map land use and cover areas in the Brazilian Amazon. This system is composed to three neural nets models: Multi-Layer Perceptron, Learning Vector Quantization, and Radial Basis Function. After the training and recognition phase, the results obtained with each net were combined and a final thematic map was generated through the integration module. The system showed to be very promising for studying the targets inside MODIS images for purposes as deforested areas monitoring.
